Ghana Worksheet

Have you heard of Fufu? Do you know about the Black Stars? Have you ever been to Accra? can you guess what country these are connected to?

Hi, this is Momoko and this is Akane. We’d like to introduce Ghana to you on this show. Ghana is a unique place. We’ll be talking about basic facts and cultural highlights. We hope you enjoy our show!!!

The republic of Ghana is located in West Africa. The capital city is Accra. Ghana means “warrior king”. The flag is red, yellow and green. The black star in the middle stands for the lodestar of African freedom. Their official language is English, but they also have 47 ethnic languages. I think everyone knows the Japanese chocolate brand called “Ghana”. This is because Ghana is the second largest producer of cocoa in the world. Cocoa is used to make chocolate and is this country’s major exports.  (more…)

Action!!

Do you always act when there is a good opportunity? Have you ever lost an opportunity caused by your indecision? In daily life, I think there are many good opportunities. However I often missed them and felt regret. So, I believe making an action is important to me.

I want to talk about my experience. I went to New Zealand when I was in a high school. When I was in a junior high school, I decided to study abroad, because I wanted to be a good English speaker. However, studying abroad costs money so I couldn’t decide whether to study abroad or not. When I was thinking, my mom and dad told me that there is no more opportunity that I can go to another country and study English so I should go even if it costs a lot of money. Then I decided to go with their help. In fact, there was another chance to study abroad after I entered this college, but I didn’t go because there was no time to do it. So the decision which I made in junior high school to study abroad was correct.

Carolyn Wells said “Actions lie louder than words”. Nowadays, we say “Actions speak louder than words”. I think it is easy to say “I want to do this thing.” but if you don’t make an effort, the good opportunity is lost. So when it comes, we must grasp it.

I had a great time with my host family!!

Hello my name is Akane and I’m 19 years old.

I was born and brought up in Ome. Ome is in Tokyo but most people think that Tokyo is urban, but Ome is rural so many people don’t know where it is.

My hobbies are listening to music, playing the electone and playing badminton.

I listen to many different kinds of music such as Japanese pop, Rock , Punk, Foreign music and so on.  Recently however, I only listen to foreign music so if you have some good music, please tell me.

In Obirin universiy I belong to a electon circle.  I have played the electone for 10 years. There are few students in the circle but there are many chanses to talk with other universities’ circle members so I’m enjoying it very much.

The biggest news which happehed recently was my host famliy in New Zealand came to Kobe in Japan to work and live there. When I was a high school student, I went to New Zealand to study English for a year and my host family helped me a lot.  So I went to Kobe this month to meet them. I was really happy about it.

Thank you.
