There are many special days in Japan.  There are about 20 public holidays, for example, Green day culture day, Marrinday and so on.  Coming-of- age Day is one of the most important.  Do you know this days?  Let me introduce it to you.

On the day is a ceremony for 20-year olds.  They are conscious as adult and they celebrate the start of a new chapter in life.  They are called “new adults”.  I think, new adults should a thankful to their parents or grandparents because they were brought up to them.

Coming-of-age Day, women put on a kimono.  In Japanese they are called Furisode.  They are very gorgeous dresses.  Men put on Hakama.  This looks like a Samurai style.  However recently, they often ware suits so Hakama is not so common.  Coming-of-age-day is once in a life time so new adults are looking forward to the day.

A general ceremony is held a their local a big hall and a mayor delivers a speech congratulating everyone.  In chiba, new adults take part in the ceremony in Disney land.  Mickey and Minny cereblates to them.  How I envy them!  I wanted to go there.  My ceremony was held in my high school’s?church and hold worship there.
