Hi. Our name are  Emi.S and Emi.K. Welcome to this country spotlight. I’d like to introduce Honduras to you on this show. Honduras is a beautiful country with lots of history that located in the part of Central America. I’ll be talking about a few basic facts, some history and Honduran cuisine. Let’s start.

Basic facts

This country’s formal name is Republic of Honduras. Everyone usually call Honduras. This country is located in  the part of Central America.The capital is Tegucigalpa, public language is Spanish. The area is 112.090 square kilometers and where  7,466,000 people lives. Currency is Lempira(LNL),1 doll is equal 18.9 Lempira. Main religion is Catholic. Main industry is agroforestry which are coffee, banana, farmed shrimp.

Easy introduction of history

Honduras is prospered Maya Civilization. This country was discovered by Columbus in the 16th century, and became a colony in Spain. The rule of Spain was despotic, so the battle happened with the aborigine Lencas. Mr.Lempira at the head of the list, his name still remains as name of Honduras currency. In 1821, Honduras independent from Spain and reindependent from Central States Association in 1838. After, there is Authoritarian government until 1982.

Food

Honduras food’s taste is strong. Oil and sugar are included in most of the dish. Corn, rice and for cooking banana are routinely eaten by Honduran. They also eat baleadas and tajaditas. These foods are made from cheese, cream, bean and so on. These are dishes that are popular and generality among people. In common with Mexico tortilla is eaten. In Honduras, ftuit and coffee are especially famous as local products. For example, pineapple is very popular and a lot of people cultivate it in the garden.

Honduras has a history of friendly relations with Japan. In 2006, Japan and Honduras’s Friendship memorial stamp was came out.
