My reaction “Google should be broken up”

Summary

European MPs say that Google should be broken up. The landmark vote sends a clear message to European regutators to get tough on the Google. Google has around 90% market share in Europe and rivals asked the commission to investigate four areas. Joaquin Almunia tried and failed to settle the case. A series of concessions made by Google were rejected. There is the only option with a fine. Some people stated that the best way to resolve the row with Google was to separate search engines from other commercial services thereby ensuring level playing field for rivals in Europe.

My opinion

I think that monopolistic enterprises are very bad. They have mamy demerits. Rivals can make many good things each other. A company wants to win to other company, they consider how to make better products or how to cut costs to make products. So, we can buy their products which quarity are better, and we can buy them with lower costs. If there is the monopolistic enterprise, they can determine their products’s prise, they can sell their products with higher prise. Moreover, if there is no rivals, the monopolistic enterprise may not make efforts to make better products so much. In conclusion, I think that monopolistic enterprises make bad effects for consumers.

Summary

 Russell Crowe insisted that children should know the brutal truths of the war. Then he made a film whose title is The Water Diviner in order to show anti-war. It described the story of travel to Gallipoli after the war and include a number of graphic battle field flashbacks. We often overstate the war so we don’t know the truth of the war. Therefore It is important for us to correct the imbalance even in small ways, for example teaching our children not only Gallipoli but also Turks say Gallipoli as Canakkale.
Opinion
 I agree with the opinion Russell Crowe said. It is true that excessive horror and murder  are hard contents for children because these representation often give bad effect on them. In reality young people commit violent crimes by being affected such expressions.
 However  to know the truth of the war is not only to watch the violence. We tend to think whether won or lost the war and be taught ‘there was an affair’,but the war is not just a fight. There are many backgrounds for it like religions, nation, authorities and so on.
 So it is worthy of knowing the real truth about the war even though it was too violent.

My reaction to the death calculator

This  theme is interesting for me. It is said that Japanese has long life expectancy, so this time was good opportunity to think about the reasons. According to the article , there are five factors to live to be 100; genes, outlook, diet, exercise, an active mind. Since I go to Keio University, I rarely exercise. That is why this was good cue to think how much I exercise. Although I probably can’t play sports every week, I was encouraged to stretch sometimes at least. As for diet, I remembered a food lifestyle councilor once said to me that meat, fish, beans, and eggs are especially important for me to be powerful. Of course, developments in medicine and welfare are strong factors. Antibiotec drugs and social services for challenged people and elderlies are richer than ever than before. Generally people in developed countries live longer than advancing countries for many reasons.

Summary

According to Disney, sale of dresses based on its megahit movie “Frozen” topped 3 million in North America this year alone. “Frozen” is really popular with kids around the world and its characters is truly a phenomenon for a long time. This movie has greatly influenced people. Disney is producing a new “Frozen” film, “Frozen fever” and constructing new attraction based on “Frozen” at present.

 

Reaction

“Frozen” is the most popular movie in this year. Why saw people from kids to adults this movie? I think the secret of popularity is a sense of closeness.

There are two heroines in the film. They are sisters. Older sister, Elsa act prudently. On the other hand, younger sister, Ana is optimist. She has a bold view. Their personality is exactly the opposite. They quarreled about thinking. This situation is realistic.

I have older sister the same as this film. My sister is very cautious. For example, she lock up securely many times before she is out. But, I’m optimistic person. For instance, I can’t do homework earlier. I always try just before a deadline. Our situation resembles this story. So, I was deeply impressed by seeing this film.

This story aroused sympathy from many in the audience. Therefore, it is the most popular in this year.

Yuzuru Hanyu finishes second at Cup of China

SUMMERY
Yuzuru Hanyuu collided with China’s Han Yan in warm-ups for free skating, still he won the second prize at Cup of China. He appeared on the ice with his head wrapped and with blood streaming from the cut on his chin exposed. Although his performance apparently reminded the audiences of the shocking crash with falling five times, he nearly won silver.

REACTION
I have two things to talk about here.
Firstly, to some extent, people make themselves lay national sentiment on the stage of international competition, although international competition of sports is the place where politic affair is put aside and people with different background can mutually interact. Actually, after media reported the accident between Yuzuru Hanyu and Yan Han, some Japanese brought an issue of Chinese anti-Japanese sentiment and claimed Yan intentionally collided with Hanyuu.
Secondly, the accident poses a question: to what extent athletes could decide whether they continue their performance or not, when they are injured before or during a game. The coach persuaded Hanyuu to cancel skating, but finally he allowed him go because Hanyuu did not say yes and physical signs of a concussion did not appear. The skating union takes medical system into account affected by the accident. There is room to discuss how much the will of athletes should be respected.

“Frozen” products sales

Summary
Disney announced that sales of dresses based on its movie “Frozen” was over 3 million dollars in North America this year alone. In this “Frozen” fever, Disney is making next “Frozen” movie. The title is “Frozen Fever”. Making use of this movie, Disney will earn more and more money.

Opinion
Why can Disney succeed in business ? Of course, its brand value or quality of its goods is one of the reasons. But the biggest reason I think is its abvertising strategy. In the first place, Disney is the conglomerate that dominates various media, for example, publication, broadcasting and so on. It has succeeded by strong power of advertising through each media it has.
Advertising power is extraordinary. In fact, by its power, we seem to be good thing in spite of bad thing in reality. Therefore, if you want to get succeeded in business, you should forcus on advertising. And we should pay attention not to be tempted by false advertising.

Real Wimmie the Pooh owner’ footsteps retraced by great-granddaughter

Winnie the Pooh is the story of honey-loving bear’s and his friends. It is based on the bedtime story in London. Now it have been translated into more than 40 languages and it became the Disney’s movie loved by everyone. The motif of Winnie the Pooh is the cub in the London Zoo donated by Cpt Harry. The young boy in the stories, Cristopher Robin, was named after author’s son. The real Cristopher Robin like the cub as well as the the boy in the stories. These days, Cpt Harry’s great-granddaughter met the cousin of the late Cristopher robin Milne. She was very moved and commented that a real bear and a fictional bear affected the narratives of their lives.

 

I love Winnie the Pooh so much that I used to watch the video twice a day when I was in a kinder garden. The attraction in the Disney Land which I take the first is always Pooh’s Honey Hunt. But to my surprise, I don’t know the back ground of the story.Literatures sometimes have some hidden truth and another story like a criticism against the society and a political message. Although Winnie the Pooh wouldn’t have such a hidden subject, it is interesting to think how it was made. In addition, I realized that literatures have a power to connect people when I read the news. I am happy if I can meet an author of my favorite book or relatives and would like to talk about my great-grand father.
