Hello, I am Shin. I want to share with you a special day of Japan. It is “Christmas”. Maybe, you know this day, but do you know what is Christmas?
As you know, the day is in December 25th every year. People celebrate this day with lover or family, but most people who celebrate don’t know what they celebrate.
I am Christian, so I know that Christmas is when Jesus came into the world. In Christmas I celebrate with my family in church every year. But some my friends said, “I don’t know that Christian also celebrate Christmas.” And I know a temple which celebrates Christmas.
In Japan, Christmas is “Santa Claus’s day” or “Lover’s day”.
Japanese toy’s companies aim to sell a lot of toy to fathers. When fathers buy toys, they become Santa Clause for their children. Children look forward to receiving a gift by Santa Clause.
Some girl said “I want to have a boyfriend before Christmas, and I will go out with boyfriend in Christmas.” In Christmas, there is a lot of couple in town. It is special day for them. They go out together, and they buy presents for each other. And it is said that people who don’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend are unhappy. Because many Japanese think that Christmas is lover’s day.
Japanese Christmas is special day for children and couples. But they don’t know what is Christmas. They just want to enjoy some events.
Plese enjoy Christmas. It is good for Christian, because Jesus came.
