Hi, my name is Reina. Today, I would like to introduce about my hometown’s  holiday. There are many interesting New Year’s events around the world, but my hometown has an especially exciting New Year’s event!

My hometown is Tsukui. It is closed to Yamanashi and Tokyo. It has a lot of mountains, beautiful rivers, and a big lake, so ‘Tskui Lake’ is famous and some rivers are connected to ‘Sagami River’ which a famous river in Kanagawa.

My hometown’s New Yaer’s has a very fun event. We pay our first visit of the year in a shrine, and walk around the town playing Japanese drum sand visit all the homes. When we visit homes, ‘Shishimai’ go into homes and move their mouth like castanet. Do you know ‘Shishimai’?  ‘Shishimai’ is a traditional folk entertainment in Japan. It is like a Lion. Moving mouth into homes means a charm against evil spirits and is a prayer for rain.  In Tsukui, a lot of people have  farms, so this event is very important for these people for a good harvest.

Tsukui has a lot of interesting events; Bon-odori, Japanese drum festival and so on. Please come to Tsukui. Bye-bye^^
